
2007 Annual Travel Profile
Growing economic uncertainties and rising fuel prices dampened Americans penchant for travel in 2007. For the second year in a row, the number of leisure travelers nationwide was little changed, with Pennsylvania seeing a slight drop in the state’s total from 2006’s record high.
Nevertheless, all was not bleak with several positive and notable highlights for the year including a rebound in the proportion of travelers visiting the Commonwealth for purely vacation purposes.

The Economic Impact of Travel & Tourism in Pennsylvania - Travel Year 2007
The purpose of this study is to estimate the economic benefits of travel & tourism to
Pennsylvania. Travelers are defined as those who made an overnight trip or traveled
in excess of 50 miles for a day-trip. The spending of visitors from international
markets has also been included.
